A Wider Hood Than The Cooker Needs

The Symphony range cooker is a 90cm induction with two separate oven cavities — a 115-litre main oven and a second cavity, so a roast and a pudding can run at different temperatures at the same time. Induction on top means a hob you can wipe down while it is still warm.

We have paired it with the 110cm Symphony hood rather than a 90cm one on purpose. An extractor only captures what rises within its footprint, so a hood 20cm wider than the cooking surface catches the steam drifting off the outer pans instead of letting it roll up the wall. It also runs quieter, because it does not have to work as hard.

Fitting Notes

The cooker needs 900mm of clear floor width; the hood needs 1,100mm of clear wall above it, so check you have the run before ordering — this is the one thing that catches people out with a wider hood. Induction needs a dedicated electrical supply on its own circuit, and a range cooker of this size normally wants an electrician to confirm the existing one is adequate. Induction also only works with ferrous pans: hold a magnet to the base of yours before you commit. The hood is wall-mounted, ducted or recirculating with a carbon filter.
