Linea is the Smeg design line for people who want the kitchen to recede rather than announce itself. Flat black glass on all three pieces, minimal trim, controls that sit flush. Put an oven, a hob and a hood from three different ranges together and you get three different blacks; buy them from the same line and you get one.

We have specified the 80cm hood rather than a 60cm one on purpose. An extractor only captures what rises within its footprint, so a hood 20cm wider than the hob catches the steam coming off the outer pans instead of letting it drift up the wall — and it runs quieter doing it.

Fitting Notes

The oven is a standard 595mm built-in and needs its own electrical supply. The hob is gas and must be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer; it can be converted for LPG. Measure your worktop cut-out against the hob dimensions before ordering.

The hood is 795mm wide, so it needs more clear wall than a 60cm one — check the run between your wall units. The angled design gives you more headroom over the hob than a boxy chimney, which is the point of it. Mount it at the clearance Smeg specify above gas burners, and duct it to an outside wall if there is any route at all; recirculating through a carbon filter removes smell but leaves the heat and steam in the room.
