The Concert is the Smeg range cooker for people who want a proper gas hob without paying Opera money for it. Five burners on cast iron supports, and the big one is a 4kW wok burner — enough heat to actually get a carbon steel wok moving, which almost no domestic hob manages. Underneath, a 115-litre electric oven with Circulaire fan cooking and a Vapour Clean steam function.

Above it we have specified the Portofino chimney hood: same 900mm width, same traditional chimney shape, and available in seven colours so you can either match the black range or make the hood the thing people notice. These are two different Smeg design lines — Concert below, Portofino above — paired because they are the same width and the same era of styling, not because Smeg sells them as a set.

Fitting Notes

You need 900mm of clear floor width plus a little clearance either side, and the same 900mm of clear wall above for the hood. The cooker is 900mm high and the feet adjust, so it can be brought level with a standard worktop. Measure the full delivery route, not just the kitchen door.

Gas connection must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and the electric oven needs its own supply. The hood is wall-mounted and can be ducted to an outside wall or recirculated through a carbon filter; ducted is considerably more effective if you have any route at all. Mount it at the clearance Smeg specify above gas burners — 750mm.
